Among the novelties for Spain and the rest of the world that Asus ys or brand gaming, ROG presented at CES 2021 last, a new product passed something unnoticed. It is understandable since it was nothing more than a liquid cooling kit for a computer.
Many manufacturers already offer their own liquid cooling, in the form of kits that include everything you need for installation; from the fans to the radiator, through the tubes and the block for the processor.
In other times, only the most enthusiastic would have bothered with so much; but nowadays, a set like this is almost essential for a gaming computer . Not only to lower the temperatures of our processor, but also to gain some style.
Screen inside the computer
But what we had not seen until now is a liquid cooling set like the Asus ROG Ryujin II 240, which has now risen to fame on social networks for a very curious detail: it has an integrated screen.
Indeed, the block that is responsible for transferring the heat to the liquid that passes through the tubes is now adorned with a 3.5-inch screen that covers almost the entire front. That means that, instead of displaying the ROG brand logo, or the product name, we can reproduce whatever we want on this ‘little’ screen. Of course, it also has RGB lighting.
We put quotation marks around ‘small’, because 3.5 inches is a very large size. To put some context, it’s the same size as the iPhone 4 screen, from when we thought we didn’t need bigger screens and joked that mobiles were going to be as big as a notebook. Now we do not laugh so much, when it is common to find mobiles with screens twice the size of the iPhone 4.
The latest fashion
Using Asus software , it is possible to customize what we display on this screen. It is not only an aesthetic choice, but also practical, as the screen can display data about the system such as temperature in real time. But a lot of people will use it to show meme videos .
Using the free space in the liquid cooling block to put a screen is not something new, but it is the first time we have seen such a large screen in a product for sale to the general public. The first version of the Ryujin 240 had a 1.77-inch screen, for example; the OLED technology era, which will probably also repeat in this version.
In addition, manufacturers like NZXT have popularized round screens, to play videos or animated gifs; It is something that we have seen recently in some gaming computers shaped like a sports shoe.
The Asus ROG Ryujin II 240 is priceless yet, but is expected to easily exceed 200 euros; the first version is available in PcComponentes for 232 euros, after all.
